David E. Glover Emerging Technology center

The David E. Glover Emerging Technology Center is a creative technology lab in East Oakland offering free, cutting-edge programming to low-income youth, adults, and seniors from around the East Bay. Through day-time programming, after school classes, summer camps, and evening and weekend workshops, we host trainings on everything from basic computer skills to emerging technology instruction in video game design, virtual reality, AI, robotics, animation, digital fabrication, and creative coding -- all with an emphasis on community empowerment. We are East Oakland’s longest standing technology center, serving over 400 students each year since 1997.

Hack the hood

Hack the Hood is an award-winning non-profit that introduces under-resourced youth of color to careers in tech by hiring and training them to build websites for real small businesses in their own communities. During 6-week "Bootcamps," young people gain valuable hands-on experience, build a portfolio, and learn about opportunities in the tech industry, as well as building critical technical, leadership, entrepreneurship, and life skills with mentorship from staff and tech professionals working in the field.
